Fedora APAC budget panning FAD 2016 was held on 9th-10th of July 2016 in Malaysia. I was there with Fedora ambassadors from other countries within APAC region. Planning for Fedora activities for the period of March 2017 - February 2018 and also APAC budget planning for the same period were the main goals of the event. We had a discussion on ways to increase Fedora reach and also regional issues as well. One of the issue discussed on first day was few people tend to ignore the reporting and complete the reimbursement process though its done by very few people within the community. If you asked someone to purchase a flight ticket or/and do a hotel reservation, you must write the report within two weeks instead of the person who paid, chasing you all the time. For those who ignore the procedure should not get sponsored next time. Compared to previous events, I had different plan for recently held  Fedora User and Developer Confference (FUDCon) 2015 and I was almost achived what I have planed. When I was landed in Mumbai, Jens Petersen was waiting for me as my flight delayed. We had a long discussion Haskell,i18n, etc on the way from Mumbai to Pune though we both were tired. It was nice to meet him again after 2007. I had an issue with Fedora ARM build process and Dennis Gilmore from Release Engineering team help me. Thanks to those who covered DevOps tracks including Aditya, Ranjith and Lalatendu, Jackson. :)   Moreover I managed package another Sinhala font and it's under review. As I mentioned in my previous post , I flew to Nepal on 1st of May 2015 and added Day 2 and Day 3 photos to my flickr  album . It's really hard to explain the situation there but I hope you can get an idea. Another evening in Nepal with dark and fear of aftershocks  Blankets give them enough warm but not Education! What's the next step? During my visit to Dharding on 3rd of May 2015, I learned that I can do much better work with my experience. There is a small school in the village with 400 students and 8 teachers. Yes, I decided to help them with a school lab with Open Source Education tools. I have been running a similar project in Sri Lanka and I had a plan to do my next deployment with Raspberry Pi. Why Raspberry Pi? Simply: Its cheap and portable. As some of you know Sri Lanka's first translation marathon was held 27th of April  2010 with the participation of more than 70 people around the country. University students, school students and teachers, government officers and several individuals contributed that 27 hours of marathon . 2nd Translation Marathon in 2014! We are please to announce the 64-bit edition of the Hanthana Linux 17 today. You can now download the Hanthana Linux x86_64 Live DVD ISO . Hanthana Linux 17 (i386) released 3 weeks ago received overwhelming feedback from the existing and new users from all over the world with over 9000 downloads so far ( over 15,000 altogether) and counting. Many of our user were eagerly waiting for the 64-bit release, and we apologize for the delay in release. We hate to keep our community waiting but unavoidable technical challenges kept us from releasing this earlier. You may find it hard to believe that Hanthana Linux released are build on personal laptop computer. And in Sri Lanka we are faced with less than 1Mbps internet connection speeds when uploading ISO files to the mirror servers. Hanthana Linux 17 (Sithija) is released! Project began with the goals of Introducing and promoting Free and Open Source Software to the masses, especially to those with low technical knowledge, no access to the Internet or under privileged, and has now been deployed in a lot of schools, individuals, private sector offices, public sector institutes and government offices. Hanthana Linux operating system was officially released on the 19th of September 2009 and by now the the number of copies distributed by the Hanthana Linux Project and individuals has counted up to the thousands. According to the SourceForge website, just one of the repositories that provides the distribution, there’s over 6000 downloads from all over the world.
